Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

Water Paint ("Water Paint", "we", "us") is a relaxing water-painting app for mobile devices. This Privacy Policy explains what information the app and this website collect, how we use it, and the choices and rights you have. For the purposes of the EU/UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), Water Paint is the data controller for the personal data described here.

2. Information we collect

We designed Water Paint to need as little personal data as possible. You can use the app without creating a named account or providing your name.

Information collected automatically

• Device & technical data — device model, operating-system version, language, screen size, app version and similar diagnostics.
• An anonymous account identifier — on first launch we generate a random device identifier and an anonymous account so your coin balance and progress can be saved. This is not linked to your real-world identity.
• Advertising identifier — a resettable identifier (e.g. the Android Advertising ID) used to serve and measure ads, subject to your consent where required (see sections 4–5).
• Usage & analytics data — in-app events such as opening or completing a painting, used in aggregate to understand and improve the app.

Information you provide

• Photos you import — if you choose to paint your own photo, the image is processed for the painting feature. We do not use your photo library for any other purpose.
• Optional Google sign-in — if you choose to link a Google account to recover your balance across devices, we receive a Google sign-in token that lets the server confirm the account. We do not post anything to your Google account.
• Support messages — if you contact us, we keep your message and contact details to respond.

3. How we use information

• To provide and operate the app — saving your progress, coin balance and purchases.
• To display advertising and (where you consent) to personalize and measure it.
• To understand usage and improve features, stability and performance.
• To process in-app purchases and subscriptions.
• To prevent fraud, abuse and to keep the service secure.
• To comply with our legal obligations.

4. Advertising & Google AdMob

Water Paint shows ads (including rewarded ads you can choose to watch to earn coins) using Google AdMob, provided by Google. To serve and measure ads, AdMob and its partners may process device and advertising-identifier data.

• Personalized ads may use information about your device and activity to show more relevant ads — only where you have given consent.
• Non-personalized ads rely on contextual information rather than your past behaviour and are used where you decline consent or where required by law.

5. Consent (EEA, UK & Switzerland)

If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, we ask for your consent before serving personalized ads, using a Google-certified consent message (Google's User Messaging Platform / UMP) the first time you open the app, in line with applicable data-protection and ePrivacy rules.

6. Analytics

We use Google Firebase Analytics to collect aggregated, mostly anonymous usage statistics (for example, how many paintings are completed) so we can improve the app. We do not use analytics to identify you personally. See the Firebase privacy information.

7. Purchases

Coin packs, the "remove ads" option and subscriptions are sold through Google Play Billing. Google processes your payment; we do not receive or store your full payment-card details. Our server receives a purchase token from Google to confirm and grant your purchase. Please also review the Google Play Terms of Service.

8. How information is shared

We do not sell your personal data. We share limited data with service providers who help us run the app, including:

• Google — AdMob (advertising), Firebase (analytics), and Google Play (purchases, optional sign-in).
• Hosting & infrastructure providers that store the app's data on our behalf.

We may also disclose information where required by law or to protect our rights, users or the public.

9. Legal bases for processing (GDPR)

• Consent — for personalized advertising and any non-essential identifiers, where required.
• Performance of a contract — to provide the app, save progress and process purchases you request.
• Legitimate interests — to keep the service secure, prevent abuse, serve non-personalized ads and improve the app, balanced against your rights.
• Legal obligation — where we must retain or disclose data to comply with the law.

10. Your rights

Subject to applicable law, you have the right to access, correct, delete or receive a copy of your personal data, to restrict or object to certain processing, and to withdraw consent at any time (without affecting prior processing). To exercise these rights, email [email protected]. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data-protection authority.

11. Data retention

We keep personal data only for as long as needed for the purposes above — typically while your account and progress remain active — and then delete or anonymize it, unless a longer period is required by law (for example, for purchase records).

12. Children's privacy

Water Paint is suitable for a general audience and is not directed at children under the age at which consent is required in your country. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children without appropriate consent. If you believe a child has provided us personal data, please contact us and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.

13. International transfers

Our service providers (such as Google) may process data in countries outside your own. Where data is transferred internationally, it is protected by appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.

14. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to safeguard your data.

15. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will revise the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app. Your continued use of Water Paint after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
